Project Description:

Pantazi5 team undertook the study of maintaining, restoring and reusing the building complex at 78 Independence Street, known as Stoa Louli. Built in July 1869, it is an excellent example of the architecture of “Stoa”, which functioned as the shopping center of the city of Ioannina. With two groups of two-story stone buildings developing on both sides of the inner road that leads from the busy Independence Street to the church of Agios Nikolaos Agoras, it has always been a living part and a reference point of the city. The special structural and morphological characteristics of a “Stoa” were preserved and strengthened. The restoration of the building complex, as well as its underlying morphological principles was successfully completed in 2003, after which the complex started operating as center for leisure and culture.
